Pisac Business Directory
Food

There's no lack of restaurants or groceries in Pisac and they are of a good quality. In fact, one would find them better than in some major cities of the US. First of all, because the meat and vegetables are produced normally, e.g. as it had been done for centuries before the corporations took over the world. Special mentioning is deserved by the fruits you'd never see in Europe or North America: they simply won't survive an air trip there. This directory will help you with your initial choice of places. You will have your own later.

Lodging

Lodging in Pisac Typical Pisac hotels are dormitories made with the purpose to look like dormitories, feel like dormitories, and cost like dormitories. Their lodgers look like dormitory inhabitants too. However if this is not what you're looking for, there are a couple of places with the higher conditions and a price tag. Most of the lodging is built and owned by the foreigners, so they knew excatly what they were doing. The insects are not generally the issue as they cannot pass through pretty cold nights (6-8 degrees in Centigrade).

Shopping

There are no shopping malls in Pisac. No Walmart. No JC Penny. No Costco. Suprisingly there's still a life in town. Items are sold by the small stores, each selling something distinct. One thing is for sure: do not visit Pisac to buy fancy european outfits. Pay attention to local crafts, jewelry, souvenirs, alpaca wool, rugs, authentical musical instruments, ponchos, etc. Negotiate prices as they are doubled when you start talking to a salesperson, or leave them as is if you wish to support Pisac community.

Lodging in Pisac Pisac is about 1 km wide and has the same amount of kilometers of length, so you won't need a daily bus ride or a subway map to get around. But even a visiting of neighboring villages are easy: simply take a minivan called "collectivo". This is the cheapest way. As to the more expensive way (taxi) it is not expensive either: roughly 60 soles per 30 km of travel. There are also "mototaxies" which represent the medium between a bus and a taxi in terms of price. They are funky too: hand made from scooters and a spare iron sheets, colored randomly, and blessed by the authorities.
